Robin Pender

Principal Solicitor and Director of Penderlaw

Robin qualified as a solicitor in 1992 and joined the business in 2002. Robin has a great deal of experience in Private Client work, including Property, and is renowned for his expertise in personal injury, clinical negligence claims and contentious probate litigation. Robin also has a wide knowledge of wills, trusts, probate and tax planning and he enjoys supervising the Conveyancing Team.


When not working and running the business Robin enjoys spending time with his family, cycling and sailing and has an appreciation of fine art and wine. He also has a cat called Molly and a visiting cat called Siamesie.

    

Samantha Bellamy

Associate Legal Executive in Property 

Samantha was born and grew up in Cornwall and studied Law at Cardiff University. Shortly after graduating in 2011, Samantha joined Penderlaw and works as a Associate Legal Executive in the Property department specialising in the following areas:-

· Residential Property sales and purchases;

· Probate and Estate Administration sales;

· Transfers of Equity;

· First Registrations.

Samantha lives with her husband Sam and their two cocker spaniels, Ruby and Lottie. In her spare time, Samantha enjoys baking and crafting and is a member of a local agility club.

 


Demelza Dunstan

Solicitor in the Conveyancing Department

Demelza was born in Cornwall and qualified as a solicitor in 1998. Demelza joined Penderlaw in September 2016 and has many years' experience practising all aspects of conveyancing, including:

- Residential sales and purchases;

- Remortgages;

- Transfers of Equity;

- First Registrations; and

- Commercial Property.

When not working, Demelza enjoys spending time with her husband and children and their cat, Mario. 

 

 

 

Hannah McComb

Associate Legal Executive in the Property Department

Hannah joined Penderlaw in 2017 as an Associate Legal Executive where she works in the Property Department specialising in the following areas:

- Residential Property Sales and Purchases;

- Probate Sales and Assents;

- Transfers of Equity; and

- First Registrations.

Hannah was born and raised in Cornwall and currently lives in Falmouth with her two young sons. In her spare time, Hannah enjoys attending kickboxing classes, socialising with friends and family and walks on the beach. 

 

 

 

Sarah Lawrence

Conveyancing Assistant

Sarah has more than 20 years experience in conveyancing and has recently returned to law after 8 years away.


Sarah lives with her partner David and her Jack Russell dog Archie in the lovely village of St Tudy. She has lived in Cornwall now for 15 years, originally coming from St Albans in Hertfordshire.


In her spare time, Sarah enjoys walking Archie on the moors and on the coastal path although sometimes she doesn’t know who is taking who for a walk! She also enjoys going to the cinema, cooking, playing tennis and badminton when she finds the time. She is very much involved with the local community and is the Treasurer of St Tudy Village Hall and part of their committee. She loves going out with her friends and organising trips away. 

 

 

Leah Chenoweth

Associate Solicitor in Private Client

Leah qualified in 2008 and joined Penderlaw in 2012 as an Associate Solicitor and joint Head of the Private Client Team. Leah specialises in Estate Administration and has particular expertise in complex inheritance tax accounts, technical probate applications and Court of Protection applications. Leah also joined Solicitors for the Elderly as a professional member in July 2012.
 

Leah practises in all areas of Private Client work including:

• Will drafting and advice on exisiting Wills and Codicils;
• Probate Applications and Estate Administration;
• Inheritance Tax and Capital Gains Tax Advice;
• Court of Protection applications;
• Advice on protecting the Elderly and Care Home Fees;
• Lasting Powers of Attorney;
• Trust Adminstration;
• Lifetime tax planning.


Leah completed her BA Hons degree in Southampton and later studied law at Exeter University. Leah travelled the globe after her studies and now lives on the Roseland with her family and her dog Rosie.

 

Lucy-Jane Scoley

Private Client Legal Assistant

Lucy moved to Cornwall in 2004 to study Textile Design at University College Falmouth where she graduated with a 2:1 honours degree. After working for a national recruitment agency and stockbrokers she joined Penderlaw in 2013 as a Legal Assistant to the Private Client Team.

Lucy is married and has a two young children with whom she enjoys going for beach walks and bike rides. She spends her spare time running and sewing gifts and clothes.

 

 

Lucy Duffin

Legal Assistant in Private Client

After studying her Law with Criminology (LL.B Hons) at Sheffield Hallam University, Lucy joined Penderlaw in 2015 following work experience with the Firm during the summer months.

Lucy works in the Private Client Department as a legal assistant and drafts Wills, Powers of Attorney, Trusts, and deals with the administration of Estates and Probate applications. She is the first point of contact for Private Client enquiries.

Outside of work ,Lucy enjoys socialising with friends and family, visiting her local gym, reading autobiographies and supporting her partner at rugby. 
  

 

Amy Davis

Legal Assistant in Private Client

Amy joined the Private Client Team as a legal assistant in 2017 after relocating with her family to Cornwall from Bristol. She enjoyed many summer holidays in Cornwall during her childhood. 

After completing her A-Levels, Amy undertook a Level 3 Retail Apprenticeship with the John Lewis Partnership where she developed her exceptional administrative and customer service skills.

Amy has previously travelled across Eastern Europe and spent a brief period working in a Romanian orphanage. In her spare time, Amy loves to read and cook and is also keen to join her local gym. 

 

 

Claire Lockwood

Litigation Executive

Claire moved to Cornwall in 1985 from Northamptonshire and has worked at Penderlaw since 1996 as a core member of the Litigation Team. Claire has particular interest and experience in Personal Injury Law and Clinical Negligence Claims.


Claire practices in the following areas of Litigation:

• Personal Injury Claims;
• Clinical Negligence Claims;
• Costs drafting in court applications and litigation matters.

Claire is our resident fitness expert and is a qualified fitness instructor. Any spare time is spent with her husband and daughter and their dog, Lottie. Claire enjoys keeping fit and when not found on a Cornish beach, will likely be throwing herself down a mountain on a pair of skis. 

 

 

 

Rachel Macwilliam

Solicitor in the Litigation Department

Rachel was born in Somerset but moved to Cornwall at a young age. She studied law with business at the University of Plymouth where she also completed the Graduate Diploma in Law before going on to complete her Legal Practice Course at the University of West England in Bristol. Rachel joined the firm in December 2011 and having started her training contract in March 2013, qualified as a solicitor in December 2014.

Rachel is currently practising in our Litigation department in the following areas:

  • Personal injury and clinical negligence claims;
  • Divorce and separation applications and advice;
  • Contentious probate;
  • Commercial and shareholder disputes;
  • Contract and land disputes.

Rachel is a self-proclaimed bookworm and also enjoys baking, spending time with her family and friends and looking after her two young nephews.

 

 

 

Melissa Polglase

Trainee Solicitor

Melissa, much like her Cornish name suggests, was born and grew up in Cornwall. She studied Law at the University of Reading graduating in 2014 with a 2:1 honours, before moving back to Cornwall. Melissa joined Penderlaw in March 2015 and works in the Litigation Department,. Alongside her work in the Litigation Department, Melissa is currently studying the LPC part time.

 

 

Zoe Root

Litigation Assistant

Zoe moved to Cornwall to initially study her BA Hons in Art History at the University College Falmouth in 2003. but upon completion of this she decided to retrain in Law.

Originally joining Penderlaw in 2011 she worked in the Private Client department. After a few years away trying her hand at new things she has now recently returned and has joined the Litigation team.

In her spare time, Zoe enjoys reading, cooking and socialising with her friends and family. Zoe lives in Penryn with her boyfriend.
 

 

 

Fern Blackwell

Accounts Assistant

Fern was born in Cornwall and grew up in Par. Fern joined Penderlaw in June 2016 as a Receptionist / Accounts Assistant and has recently moved to the Accounts Department full-time.

Fern is a keen horse rider and in her spare time likes to take care of her horse, Archibald. She also enjoys socialising with friends.
