Tegan, was born and raised in Cornwall. She studied Law at the University of Swansea graduating in 2017 with a 2:1 honours, before moving back to Cornwall.
Tegan joined Penderlaw’s litigation department in 2018, following work experience with the Firm in 2017 and began her training contract with Penderlaw in March 2022. She qualified as a solicitor in August 2023. In June 2025 Tegan was awarded Family Lawyer of the Year by the Cornwall Law Society. Tegan advises clients on a wide range of litigation matters. Her recent experience includes:
Family Law
- Representing a high-net-worth client whose spouse failed to provide disclosure their assets and income, intentionally trying to deceive the Court regarding the business valuation, resulting in a value ten times higher than he had originally quoted. Tegan assisted the client in successfully obtaining a final order in her client’s favour to support herself and her children in the future.
- Representing clients looking to obtain financial settlements, which may include pensions and business assets obtaining a fair financial settlement and a clean break for both parties.
- Child arrangements, including complex cases which may include relocation of children, restricted access and supervised contact. Tegan advises in disputes regarding where children should live or spend their time, following relationship breakdown and specific issue orders.
- Representing a client to enable her to obtain a non-Molestation order which provided her with protection and peace of mind for the future with regard to contact between herself and her child’s father.
- Successfully representing and advising a client through a divorce and financial proceedings who had experienced extreme levels of domestic violence during her marriage, resulting in significant PTSD. Tegan assisted her client obtain over 80% of the overall matrimonial pot, allowing the client to retire early and focus on her mental health.
Tegan is a member of Resolution which is a membership organization for family law professionals in England and Wales whose members are committed to a Code of Practice, promoting a constructive approach to family issues that considers the needs of the whole family.
Civil
- Experience of agricultural matters and disagreements within farming families relating to inheritance, use and occupation of land, and disputed option agreements.
- Dealing with contract disputes between commercial and private parties. Tegan recently represented a local businessman in the admiralty courts and successfully obtained a substantial settlement from a large government body.
- Representing clients in entrenched property disputes, including boundary disputes and adverse possession arguments.
- Contentious probate and disputes regarding inheritance, and validity of a Will. Dealing with queries relating to the deceased capacity, successfully rebutting arguments from exterior members of the family.
- Representation of clients in commercial disputes, including debt recovery landlord and tenant matters.
Court of Protection
- Tegan was recently successful in getting an LPA holder who was taking advantage of a wealthy protected party (who lacked capacity), to step down replacing him with professional deputy who was able to manage the protected party’s finances.
Outside of work, Tegan enjoys all things ‘country’, from walking the dogs along the coastline to summertime picnics with friends. She also enjoys, travelling, skiing, and cooking.
