New Parent Wills

Making a Will is probably not the first thing you think of when you discover you are going to be a parent. Your mind is much more likely to be focused on more immediate thoughts as your busy life as a new parent approaches.  Will I ever get any sleep again, who will do the nappies, is the car/house big enough, can we agree on names?  However, along with the many things which will never the same again once your baby arrives, protecting your newborn’s future should the unthinkable happen, is one of the most important things you can do for them. Therefore, making new parent Wills is something you and your partner should seriously think about.

As well as protecting your baby’s financial future, many people don’t realise that making a Will also covers who should become your child’s guardian should anything happen to you. It also enables you to stipulate at what age they come into money, and who will be responsible for looking after their inheritance until they are able to make decisions for themselves.

Of course, it is not the most joyous of things to contemplate but nevertheless, so important to have in place.  Perhaps fortunately, none of us knows what the future holds, but having the peace of mind that your child or children will be taken care of as you would wish, should anything happen to you, is definitely some compensation.
